University-specific CGPA calculators
Some universities don't use letter grades. For those, use a dedicated calculator:
Common 4.0 grade point scale
| Grade | Grade points |
|---|---|
| A | 4.00 |
| A- | 3.67 |
| B+ | 3.33 |
| B | 3.00 |
| B- | 2.67 |
| C+ | 2.33 |
| C | 2.00 |
| C- | 1.67 |
| D+ | 1.33 |
| D | 1.00 |
| F | 0.00 |
This is the scale most HEC-recognised universities use. Percentage ranges for each grade, and some grade points, differ between universities, so check your own grading policy.
Examples
GPA: A (4.00) in a 3 CH course and B+ (3.33) in a 2 CH course → (12 + 6.66) ÷ 5 = 3.73
CGPA: Semester 1 GPA 3.20 with 18 CH, Semester 2 GPA 3.60 with 15 CH → (57.6 + 54) ÷ 33 = 3.38
Questions
How is GPA calculated?
Multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, add them up, and divide by the total credit hours.
How is CGPA calculated?
CGPA = (GPA₁ × CH₁ + GPA₂ × CH₂ + …) ÷ total credit hours. Semesters with more credit hours count more.
Can I just average my semester GPAs?
Only if every semester has the same credit hours. Otherwise use the weighted formula, which the CGPA calculator does for you.
My university uses marks, not grades.
UAF converts marks into quality points directly. Use the UAF CGPA calculator for that.
What GPA do I need to raise my CGPA?
Use the Required GPA planner: GPA needed = (target × total credit hours − current CGPA × completed credit hours) ÷ next semester credit hours.
